Femtocell
technology showcase
The
Femto Forum is pleased to announce that a showcase of its
members’
products is now available
online. The products range from femtocell
software and hardware components, access points themselves to home
gateways and the network gateways which reside in the mobile core.
The
Femto Forum launched in Summer 2007 with only 7 vendor members whose
products were on the whole still in the development stage. We now have
well over sixty vendor members whose products are very much market
ready with many actively in use in deployments. The showcase
demonstrates quite how far this industry has come both in terms of the
number of vendor participants and the maturity of their products.

Femtozone global outreach
Following the success of the Femtozone at
Mobile World Congress last year, we are very pleased to announce
that it will be taking place at CES, Mobile World Congress and CTIA
next year. The Femtozone will serve as the central information point on
femtocells at all three events, featuring public presentations from
industry leading operators and a broad ecosystem of solution vendors
– as well as a showcase of the latest products.

Kicking
off 2010 will be the Femtozone at CES which will provide the consumer
technophile attendees with an insight into what femtocells can do today
and what they can look forward to in the near future. Unlike the
Femtozone at MWC, the focus will be on consumers, featuring
presentations in plain English and highlighting the issues that matter
to the end-users (not operators or vendors). Expect plenty on
femtocell-powered mobile apps, integration into the digital home and
how they enable faster mobile broadband services. The zone will be supporting an official CES
panel session on how femtocells are set to shake up the digital home,
chaired by our own Simon Saunders – more
on
that
here.
In
February, the Femtozone will form the central hub for all things femto
at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will then return to Vegas for
CTIA in April. Like last year, the focus will be on the major
challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Unlike last year the
presentations from operators and vendors will be able to report back on
lessons learnt from major commercial deployments. Expect to hear more
about the operator business case, the consumer proposition and the
latest technology developments – no doubt with a healthy
focus on
LTE.
To
keep up to date on the Femtozone keep an eye out on the Forum website -
a detailed agenda for CES will be published shortly. If you want to get
involved make sure you drop us an email asap as we’re already
close to capacity!
