Femtocell applications Femtocell applications allow consumers to access a wide variety of services from home or office networks, mobile operators and the web, that make life simpler and more fun. They are software applications which allow mobile handsets and network applications to benefit from the cheap and fast data connections and location-awareness provided by femtocells. Femtocell applications can enable consumers to: Automatically synchronise their music collection on their mobile device with their home PC when a customer returns home Control their TV from their mobile device Leave virtual fridge notes to be delivered when the recipient returns home or to the office. Find out more about how femtocells represent a massive opportunity for the development community: Femtocell-powered applications offer tangible benefits for consumers, applications developers, operators and femtocell vendors: Consumers get access to a wide variety of services offered from home or office networks, mobile operator networks and on the web that make life simpler and more fun. Femtocells provide application developers with a new environment to monetize new or existing applications. Operators can generate new service revenue and/or differentiate their proposition from competitors while also installing a base for a new generation of content distribution and home automation services. Femtocell vendors benefit by widening the appeal of their products. To build both a technical framework and viable community to deliver femtocell applications, the Femto Forum has setup a Services Special Interest Group (SIG).
